Marcus Langford and Dr. Taylor McHolm discuss the UO Food Security Task Force. Its mission is to reduce the prevalence of food insecurity on campus, which disproportionately impacts Black students, Latinx students, Native students, and other students of color.

Marcus Langford is an Associate Dean of Students in the Office of the Dean of Students. Marcus provides support and oversight for the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, and Multicultural & Identity Based Support Services (LGBT Education and Support Services, Nontraditional and Veteran Student Support Services, the ASUO Men’s Center, Multicultural Engagement, Education, and Student Success, and the Women’s Center) in addition to co-Chairing the Food Security Task Force, and coordinating Bias Education and Response Team.

In his role as the Director of the Student Sustainability Center, Dr. Taylor McHolm develops student leaders, helps facilitate student sustainability projects, and develops programming to meet student needs on campus. He is also the co-chair of the Food Security Task Force, which develops and implements programs and strategies to combat food insecurity on campus. He has overseen the development and funding of these programs by requesting the necessary budget from UO’s upper administration and outside sources. He received his PhD from the University of Oregon’s interdisciplinary Environmental Science, Studies, and Policy program, with a focal department of English. His published research addresses representations of environmental justice and the racial components of the Anthropocene. In all areas, his work and research prioritize the intersections of sustainability, environmental justice, social equity, and cultural production.
